Happy Pitbull Awareness Month!

October is Pit bull awareness month.

In honor of that, I would like to share some information that you may not know about the breed. Before we adopted a Pit bull puppy, I was very hesitant to have one as a pet. I had heard all of the horrific stories and about the violent temperament that they have.Turns out, those preconceived notions I had, were BUNK. After spending time with my dogs and other Pit bulls, I had no choice but to become a bully breed advocate.  These dogs have the most undeserved bad reputation of any breed out there. They are the most euthanized and abused breed in America. They are also the most loyal, loving, tolerant, amusing and eager to please of any breed I have had as a pet.  It wasn't until recent history that the breed garnered this bad rap. Throughout history, Pit bulls have been known as "nanny dogs". They would go out and roam the neighborhood with the kids and keep an eye on them. They were then, what the Labs and Golden Retrievers are today, Family dogs.  With Breed specific legislation popping up everywhere, it is more important than ever to get the truth out to people who may not have the luck to have a Pit bull in their life.  It is ignorance of the breed that is causing this widespread fear mongering. Please educate yourself and others.
